SOUTH GRAFTON, MA, MAY 04, 2026 — Hueson Wire & Cable today announced it has received Underwriters Laboratories (UL) approval for Appliance Wiring Material (AWM) Style 20549. The new certification authorizes Hueson to manufacture multi-conductor cables with extruded thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) jackets, rated at 80°C and 300V with VW-1 flame resistance.
AWM Style 20549 covers a versatile cable construction: two or more conductors in twisted, paired, or parallel configurations with an extruded TPU jacket. TPU jacketing delivers a combination of properties that PVC cannot match, including superior abrasion resistance, continuous-flex durability, and strong resistance to oils, chemicals, and UV exposure. These characteristics make it the material of choice in environments where cables face constant movement, mechanical stress, and chemical exposure.
